Students will earn their LLM degree upon completion of a program which combines traditional classroom instruction with cutting-edge technology for on-line education. Students can choose between two formats, depending on their flexibility and work commitments: the Traditional Executive Program or the Residential Option in Chicago.

The Executive LLM Program offers core law courses focused on the English common law system which applies today in the United States, aspects of international practice, and business administration coursework. Students of the Executive LLM program earn a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from Northwestern University School of Law and a Certificate in Business Administration awarded by IE.

The Executive LLM benefits from IE international recognition for its innovative blended education format. The program is divided into alternating periods of classroom and online instruction, with travel to the IE campus in Madrid and the Northwestern Law campus in Chicago. This combination allows participants to complete the program without extensive time away from their professional careers.

The partnership between two of the world’s leading law and business schools makes the Executive LLM unique. On one side IE Law School is an independent law school located in Madrid, Spain with recognized prestige of its business and law programs, and on the other side Northwestern University School of Law, one of America's most pre-eminent institutions for legal education.

During the program participants interact with top faculty members both from Northwestern University School of Law and IE Business School, who provide information on the latest developments in their fields. The top-notch faculty challenges participants ‘practice methods and styles.

The Executive LLM brings together a highly-qualified and motivated group of experienced professionals. Thanks to the very international and excellent profile of the class, participants also learn from their classmates, through shared experiences and diverse viewpoints which enrich the classroom experience.

To be considered for admission, a candidate must have successfully completed the following requirements:

• A Law degree at an accredited college/university or equivalent (an applicant without a first degree in law may be admitted as a candidate for the Master of Studies in Law (MSL) degree on proof of substantial work experience dealing with legal or regulatory matters).
• Three years professional experience.
• A complete application for evaluation by the Admissions Committee, including all supporting documents.

The tuition fees for the Executive LLM amount to €36,900 (an additional fee of € 5,000 is payable for the Residential Option in Chicago). Candidates pay a non-refundable application fee of €125 to cover administrative costs. Admission is valid for two intakes, thus allowing students to plan their experience. Participants in the Executive LLM Program are eligible to apply for a number of financing options to fund their program through IE Financial Aid department.
